We are a technology centre funded in 1993, seeking to provide innovative solutions for a SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT. Our research centre consists of a highly qualified and multidisciplinary team, composed by more than 300 professionals. We work towards improving the competitiveness of enterprises through generation of technology transfer by means of R+D activities and market-oriented training within the field of resource sustainability and effectiveness, energy grids and renewable energies.

CIRCE’s purpose is to anticipate and transfer technological solutions for their sustainability and competitiveness.

About the partnership

CIRCE plays a key role in the Theseus H4C Project, focusing on value chain characterization, impact assessment, textile upcycling, and fostering synergies with European initiatives. The technology center contributes by analyzing and defining key performance indicators (KPIs) to assess the effectiveness of industrial-urban symbiosis models. In the textile sector, CIRCE supports the development and validation of upcycling processes to enhance circular solutions for textile waste management. Apart from the textile sector, CIRCE coordinates the recycling developments in the rest of the value chains (CDW, packaging, biological films). Additionally, CIRCE leads the evaluation of the project’s environmental, economic, and social impacts, ensuring alignment with sustainability objectives and European policies. To strengthen the project’s outreach and replicability, CIRCE also collaborates with the EU Cities Mission and the Circular Cities and Regions Initiative (CCRI), developing tools and methodologies that facilitate the transition to circular urban-industrial systems.
