Linköping University (LiU) is a public research university in Linköping, Sweden, and one of the country’s largest academic institutions. The Department of Management and Engineering hosts the division of Environmental Technology and Management, a THESEUS partner. The division views environmental challenges as opportunities for innovation in products, services, systems, and organizations. Through research, education, and collaboration, it contributes to a more sustainable society. A key research area is Industrial Symbiosis, which has a dedicated unit and a 20-year history in exploring both its managerial and technological perspectives.

About the partnership

Linköping University (LiU) specializes in governance, collaboration, and policy frameworks for Industrial Symbiosis. In the THESEUS project, LiU leads Work Package 2 and serves as task leader for Tasks 2.1, 2.2, and 11.5. In Task 2.1, LiU collaborates with partners to develop governance approaches supporting sustainable Industrial and Urban Symbiosis (I-US) systems. Task 2.2 focuses on participatory methods to enhance stakeholder engagement and co-creation for effective I-US development. In Task 11.5, LiU conducts policy analysis, identifying barriers and opportunities to strengthen circular economy policies.
