Develop Athens SA was established in 1996 in order to advance and promote the city of Athens as a business and tourism destination. The goal of the Agency is to make Athens the most innovative and attractive city in Southern Europe for visitors and citizens alike. The Municipality of Athens is the Agency’s majority shareholder.
Through engagement with local and private stakeholders the Agency designs and implements programs and projects that contribute to social, business and urban development. Being a supportive pillar for the implementation of the Municipality’s policies, the organization implements a wide range of projects covering various sectors of policy from social to environmental.
Stakeholder Engagement & Co-Creation (WP2 & WP10): Develop Athens SA will play a key role in fostering participatory approaches and co-creation processes within the Industrial-Urban Symbiosis (I-US) ecosystem for the Attica Hub for Circularity (H4C). This includes engaging stakeholders and facilitating collaboration between public and private entities
Governance & Policy Development (WP2 & WP11): As a key municipal entity, Develop Athens SA will contribute to the development of governance models and policies aligned with national circular economy strategies
Smart Waste Management (WP4 & WP5): Develop Athens SA is actively involved in the deployment of smart waste management solutions in Athens. This includes optimizing waste collection and segregation through smart bins and AI-driven digital tools, improving material recovery efficiency
Mr George Stefas holds a Bachelor’s degree on “Economic and Regional Development” from Panteion University and has more than 19 years of professional experience in supporting Public Authority Actors, as well as private companies with the monitoring, technical support, management and implementation of projects co-funded by Structural Funds. Additionally, he has been involved in numerous European projects related to entrepreneurship, tourism, urban regeneration, culture, sustainable development, energy efficiency, employment, education, agriculture, inclusion, etc. He has been in ADDMA S.A. since 2016 and he is responsible for the European Projects Department
Ms Maria Krimnianioti has studied Management Science and Technology in AUEB, (2005) and has an MSc in in HRM and Industrial Relations from Manchester Business School, The University of Manchester. She has 15 years of experience in management and implementation of EU projects in close cooperation with Local and Regional Authorities. She has coordinated various ETC projects in the fields of Waste Management and Circular Economy beyond other topics. She has been also part of the pool of ad hoc experts of URBACT programme, validated in the topics 1. The design and delivery of (transnational) exchange and learning activities and 2. Methods and tools for integrated and participatory approaches.
Ms Kelser Nefeli holds an MBA in “Enterprise Risk Management” from the Open University of Cyprus and a Bachelor’s degree in “Public Administration” from Panteion University. She has a 5-year experience as an Administrative Assistant in various private companies. Over these 5 years, she managed to build and maintain excellent corporate relationships through timely response to inquiries. Her tasks varied from scheduling office meetings and client appointments for staff teams, to conducting research to determine current benchmark trends and audience preferences and developing and updating spreadsheets and databases to track, analyse, and report on performance data (KPIs). She has been in Develop Athens S.A. since July 2024 as an Executive Assistant to the CEO and member of the European Projects Department.
